I wanted to share what is inspiring me this month, maybe something can spark a little glimmer for you as well.
There is nothing more awe-inspiring to me than space and the night sky. I spend hours staring upward and picking out the constellations. A new collection is forming, anchored in that same sense of order and symbolism. I won’t say more just yet, but for those who find meaning in the celestial, you might already sense what’s coming.
Closer to home, the color of the Miami ocean in June has completely taken over my mind. That crystalline green, somewhere between mint and sea glass. I wanted to capture that feeling in a stone for so long, and I searched high and low for the perfect lab-grown emeralds to telegraph that color and feeling. I found them and had them cut into the most perfect trillions. I released the first piece from this set of stones this weekend, the North South Trillion Emerald Shield Ring. A vertically-set, light green lab-grown emerald, cut in a trillion and cradled in our signature setting flanked by a lab-grown diamond trillion, a play on the Toi Et Moi ring but in my style. It’s structural and strong but with a nod to the fluidity of the ocean in the color.
While we are at it, let’s talk about color… London reminded me how embracing color can bring the sense of fun and happiness to a drab day (color is NOT my go to, if you know me, you know, I am a neutrals kinda girl). I was walking through Primrose Hill, surrounded by rows of pastel-painted townhouses, and suddenly a lightning bolt of inspiration hit. Raspberry pink, dusty lilacs, pops of cornflower blues and emerald, of course. I started sketching as soon as I got back to the hotel. A new high-summer collection is coming mid-July, and it feels joyful, wearable, and just a little sun-kissed. Stay tuned.
And then there’s Carrie Bradshaw. I’ve been rewatching the original Sex and the City and hit the episode in season two, when she’s mortified to be on the cover of New York Magazine. Honestly? I would be too, I would have a full meltdown, who wouldn't?. But really, all I could focus on were those light pink disco pants. They are opposite of what the trends are at the moment and what I have been leaning into with my oversized wide leg jeans but these pants got a hold of me. Highwaisted, 70’s inspired, and shiny pink. Absolutely perfect. I haven’t stopped thinking about them since. Immediate hunt mode. And I succeeded. Now how to style? I'm going with Carrie’s vibe, paired with a toned down, casual heather grey tank top to make it wearable.
The disco pants are just a symptom of one of my obsessions, the 70’s and all things Slim Aarons, one of my favorite photographs is “Poolside Gossip” which was shot in 1970. I highly recommend buying his book, Poolside with Slim Aarons, forever an inspiration.
More soon from the stars to the sea, and everything in between.
Xx
